LeydenJar receiving the FME award

Recognized by FME, former ASML CEO Peter Wennink, and His Majesty King Willem-Alexander for breakthrough battery technology and industrial scalability.

We are incredibly honored to announce that LeydenJar has been awarded the Peter Wennink Tech Award 2026. The award was presented by jury chairman and former ASML CEO Peter Wennink during FME’s 75th-anniversary celebration at the Louwman Museum in The Hague, held in the distinguished presence of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander.

During the celebration, King Willem-Alexander visited the innovation floor and met with LeydenJar co-founder and CEO Christian Rood to discuss our pure silicon anode innovation and its potential to shape the global energy transition.

Jury chairman Peter Wennink praised LeydenJar’s ability to translate fundamental laboratory research into a highly scalable, industrial application with massive global market potential. Our pure silicon anode technology increases the energy density of lithium-ion batteries by 50%, paving the way for lighter, faster-charging, and more sustainable energy storage solutions.

“With the opening of our first commercial factory in Brainport Eindhoven, we are taking the definitive next step toward scaling up,” says LeydenJar CEO Christian Rood. “This award validates that Dutch deep-tech is uniquely positioned to lead the global energy transition, building a strong new ecosystem right alongside our world-class semiconductor industry.”

We extend our sincere thanks to FME, Peter Wennink, and the esteemed jury, and we are deeply grateful for the interest shown by His Majesty the King. We also want to congratulate our fellow nominees, AQUABATTERY and PAL-V, for their incredible innovations. Most of all, thank you to our exceptional team, partners, and investors who make this journey possible.
