As LeydenJar enters a new phase of global growth, we are proud to announce the refreshed composition of our Supervisory Board : four industry‑leading professionals who bring deep experience in scaling technology, building global companies, and accelerating climate‑tech innovation.

Philip Hess – Chairperson of the Supervisory Board
As of 1 February 2026, Philip Hess has been appointed the new Chairperson of LeydenJar’s Supervisory Board, taking over from Sam van der Feltz after the completion of the previous four‑year board term, and the recent closing of our capital raise.
Philip is the CEO of Norway based reMarkable, the global leader in paper tablets. Previously, he served as:
- COO at MedTech innovator Signifier Medical Technologies
- President & CEO of Bose Corporation
- Managing Consultant at PA Consulting Group
He brings experience and network in building and scaling state‑of‑the‑art consumer electronics companies; expertise that aligns directly with LeydenJar’s ambition to bring SilyteTM, our pure silicon anode product to market at global scale.
Philip on his appointment: “LeydenJar’s potential for enabling the design of new generations of consumer electronic devices is high. I’m excited to join as chair to help build the company during its global expansion. We’ll partner with Asian battery cell manufacturers to build next‑generation lithium‑ion batteries: enabling smaller devices with longer battery life, essential for new AI‑powered consumer devices.”

Pieter Wolters – Supervisory Board Member
In addition to Phil, Pieter Wolters joins LeydenJar’s Supervisory Board effective February 1st 2026. Pieter brings a unique combination of:
- U.S. and European entrepreneurial experience
- CEO roles at two biomedical startups (one publicly listed), IsoTis OrthoBiologics and OrthoAlign Inc.
- Venture capital and global board leadership as Global Head of DSM Ventures
His investment acumen and operational leadership contribute strongly to LeydenJar’s strategic, global growth plan.
Pieter: “I’m excited to help grow LeydenJar to become the world leader in advanced battery anodes, leading to progress both in terms of enabling new devices with world‑class energy‑density batteries and driving significant reductions in the industry’s carbon footprint.”
And finally, to re-introduce the more experienced members of our Supervisory Board:

Simone Vooijs – Supervisory Board Member
Simone is a seasoned executive across energy, industrial innovation, and technology scaling at ProRail and Tata Steel. She contributes her operational expertise to LeydenJar, as the company transitions from breakthrough R&D to commercial production. Her leadership experience strengthens our global execution capability.

Yair Reem – Supervisory Board Member
As a Partner at Extantia Capital, Yair brings experience in climate‑tech investing and early‑stage deep‑tech ventures. His insight into scaling impact‑driven technologies plays a key role in LeydenJar’s mission to deliver world‑leading silicon anodes from PlantOne.
Together, Phil, Pieter, Simone, and Yair form a powerful Supervisory Board supporting LeydenJar’s international expansion.
A Note of Thanks
With the instalment of the new Supervisory Board, we would like to thank Sam van der Feltz for acting as Chairperson since January 2022. His broad experience has helped drive the leadership team to grow beyond R&D, and into one of Netherlands’ leading deep-tech scale-ups.
“Sam’s experience and wisdom have been extremely helpful in guiding me as founder / CEO in the journey of a deep tech venture, while experiencing the inevitable growing pains one comes across during such a risky path. I am thankful for his coaching and trust, and will miss his wit going forward” – Christian Rood, CEO
We would also like to thank Martin Green, Bart Riley and Daan Kersten for their time with us as Supervisory Board members. Martin brought deep insights in the battery industry, and was vocal in topics from battery R&D to commercial strategy in the battery industry, while Bart and Daan brought in relevant expertise from battery science and high tech equipment business.
